Hi all,

Looking to find out what everyone's opinion is on the lifespan of the brake discs on the Kadjar?

I seem to be going through them quite quickly.

I got my brake disks (front and rear) changed at around 50,000 miles and I've now got to 86,000 miles. The car has just been into the garage and I'm being told the disks, both front and back, need changing again!

I remember having a Ford Focus and that going to 120,000 miles and it still didn't need a brake disk change!

I know it's based on your driving style, how hard you brake etc... But the way I drive hasn't changed, and neither has the area I live in! Yet the Kadjar is about to go through another set of disks. This is despite me buying a more expensive set the last time to try and make them last longer.

Anyone else think the same? Or is it just me?!

I imagine there is a matter of the quality of the disks being fitted. I usually buy the parts and get them fitted by a mechanic, things like brakes I wouldn't want to leave to the cheapest component bought by a garage. Any idea what you had fitted?

At 50,000miles I've had front discs and pads / also rear pads. The front disc did measure below the min. The rear disc was just about ok.

I tend to be quite light on the brakes .. I'll see how we go this time round!

Hi all,

I cannot remember the brand of disks that I put onto the car but I do remember asking for a longer lasting disk which added a few pounds to the bill but thought it would pay off!

It'll be interesting to see how it goes with another set of disks and pads. I just wondered whether the disks were too small for the size or weight of the car?

Hey gang,

I just changed mine (all 4) at 64K km (40K miles), but I know that I'm "sportier" driver.
Plus it's an automatic. :D

From time to time I do try to drive it gently with less braking.

However I do agree with you about longevity, but I guess they all are aiming at earning cash through spare parts. (which is the most important source of income to all of them)

My pads were change during annual technical maintenance last summer at exactly 4 years in service and approximately 110K km. The mechanics said the disks should last as long as I'll have to change the new pads.
