The thing I have discovered through the Car tax website that the car wasn't taxed from 28th April, so it's stood a long time, evidenced by the fact it took several days for stop/start to start working... Maybe there's somehting similar with the HSA... It's a bit more difficult to be sure it's rolling back without scaring the driver behind in most places

My 1.2 Auto works OK with HSA but I wasn't aware that using the footbrake harder would help it. It feels like defying gravity (which it is, I suppose).
I still have a problem when the car is pointing up the hill. I've tried holding the hand brake on but as soon as I release it, the car lurches back. I'm told hat I need to stand on the footbrake and that will hold it. I haven't yet had the suitable opportunity (or courage) to try that.

Why do you release handbrake manually? Just put in D and start driving. Handbrake will release automatically... one of the best thing, I used from 2003 in Scenic II...

It's a bit smoother releaseing the brake manually, than sticking it in first and pulling off, with the stern fo the car squatting
