I have a UK Kadjar, but when trying to wash the windscreen I found I couldn't raise the driver's side wiper arm, and the bonnet was blocking it . How is it done? Ditto I could raise the rear wiper arm.

When engine switched off, put the wipers lever all the way down (fastest wiping speed, when in operation). This makes the blades go up (vertically) and than you  can lift'em up.

Never tried this but this is the gospel according to the manual:
1). Ignition must be off.
2). Switch off auto wipers on the wiper stalk, which is the lever on the right of your steering column that you normally use to operate wipers. (Not in Manual)
3). Push down wiper stalk fully.
4). Wipers should stop slightly away from the bonnet.

Sorry about the idiot guide, it is the way I do things at work so there is no misunderstanding.

Actually AOne and me drive left-hand Kadjar. I never (more then 2,5 years ownership) did mentioned procedure either for washing windscreen or change wiper blade. You can always carefully lift drivers wiper arm enough to stay in position (just put a piece of paper or cloth between bonnet and arm to avoid scratching). Then lift passenger side wiper arm and clean windscreen, change blades. Put it back in opposite sequence... Just do not rush.

Well, It's actually just a quick push of the stalk all the way down, when the engine is not running. Why bother other ways?

Yes, why... When wipers will do one move when you will quick push the stalk all the way up on clear, dry windscreen...
Anyway, my method (when you omit paper/cloth) is quicker then yours... Especially on gas stations when you lock car and decide to wash windscreen after filling/paying fuel.
