Hello, I'm new to this forum and am hoping that someone can help? I have a 2016 dci - very happy with the car, but recently the alarm has developed a mind of its own and has started going off during the early hours! We now lock the car using the long press of the key card to disable the sensors, but this does not stop the alarm going off randomly! Any advice, things to check etc would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks, Steve.

My wife had a similar issue with the Captur and turned out to be a fault with alarm. If fault can't be easily replicated, take video evidence to dealer including how often it happens, like ever 10 min, 20min etc.
Check all doors, bonnet are fully closed.
Are the movement sensors clear inside the car, no wildlife crawling over them etc.

I think the long key press is only relevant to switching off the movement detection of the car which would be used for transportation but doors etc remain armed.

Hi, I have checked the internal sensors (removed any dust etc), as well as the door/engine bay switches. The engine bay switch felt a little "notchy" so will clean up with electrical contact cleaner. Also, the tailgate lock was a little "sticky" with old grease....cleaned this up with WD-40 and operated much smoother. I am under the impression there is an alarm contact within the mechanism? Will update if this has solved the issues.

Update - after three days with no issues, we are having the random alarm activation again! Will have to take it to my local Renault dealer to have it checked I'm guessing? In the meantime, is there a way to "switch off" the alarm, or maybe even remove a fuse so we don't annoy the neighbors any more....? Thanks

I think everything relating to the security of the vehicle routes through the alarm. The only way, I think is to remove the alarm sounder part but leave the rest of the unit in place otherwise the car doesn't start. The sounder has a battery backup so will continue to sound until the battery runs down.

I am basing this on my experience with the RX4 we used to have that had alarm issues.
