Hi al, newbie here sorry to piggyback and old post.

I recently purchased a 2017 kadjar which my records show was made after April.

id like to have either CarPlay or android auto can the dealer activate this?
my software version starts with 7. Something.

thanks for any advice in advance

Build date from which mirroring was added was May 2017.
I suspect if it is a V7 it’s been updated somewhere along the line from a V3.  Android Auto will be able to run on it via activating through developers mode or Ddt4all, while you are there in developers you can check the version of the hardware and activate it to try ACP.
Dealers won’t get involved as the car was never installed with it from new.

So, today I did final check. New device with V 9.x software and a car 2016 year (original device was 1.1 and 2.2.19.300 firmware). CarPlay and AndroidAuto enabled on new device. CarPlay does not work (basically detect phone and try to connect, then failure).
i assume that proper USB port is also needed.

if you’ve had the headunit change and as you’ve said running V9 then adding a USB port from a later car 2018 onwards then ACP will work as long as it’s activated.

Thanks, I’ll try this how do I access developers mode?
and what are the chances of breaking everything if I turn ACP and AA on?

Having successfully added ACP to my 16 plate.

the headunit will need to be changed to a later type,  unfortunately it’s not such a case of getting a second hand unit, it will need coding to the car by which you need a very friendly dealer to do this for you and register it with The renault servers.

You will also need to be running V3 or above, as v3 has been superseded V7 or above.
AA and ACP will need to be activated via developers mode or Ddt4all, most dealers won’t touch this part. And lastly the USB ports need to be changed to a 2018 version.
unfortunately it’s all to do with Apple and Licensing.

It took me a around a year to achieve this, lost interest after waiting 7 weeks for a new head unit from renault after it was bricked. Still in warranty at the time.
It was great once I achieved it, but to be honest I only use it occasionally now.  I have my phone in a charging holder, the same as my works van so usually use mapping and music straight off the phone, audio via BT

I did that. Bought an 2018 model USB module on Allegro.pl and it costed me 50EUR to get it to my country. Need to involve my business friend in Poland to order and pay module and resend it to Slovenia. After changing module (for skilled stuff in authorised garage this is 20 minutes job literally) ACP works like a charm… if nothing else, phone calls are in much better quality then over BT.
2016 White 1.6 dCi 4WD BOSE with Premium Techno Pack, Winter Pack, Panoramic glass roof & autodipp mirror and retractable towbar.
Added ambient illumination, few chrome trims,
Replaced R-Link2 V2.2 SW version 9. 0.34.611, enabled Android Auto and CarPlay (change USB slots)

just bought a used 2016 Kadjar 1.5 signature nav (sept 2016)

found a video on YouTube with someone (luckily form the UK) that managed to change his USB ports and enabled ACP and it worked on his 2016

Video was posted 9 months ago and he did it all in like under 20 mins !

it’s explained what you need in order to do it but me being a woman that would be way too technically advanced haha

there’s the video and if anyone is in the UK and can do it for me I would happily pay for it
