Hi all

New to the forum but joined to pose a question about an issue thats occurred on my 2017 Kadjar.

When i move the steering wheel past 180 degrees, there is a subtle whining type sound ( a little like a horn sound) which occurs in both directions.

Been doing some research and im thinking it may be the power steering fluid thats low.

Does anyone know where i can check this? Or if you think the issue may be something different?

Im still in warranty from where i bought it so i can take it back but id rather save myself a trip out there if possible

Thanks

It happens to me, but only in cold winter days. My guess is, it's the MacPherson bearing or pad. My dealer said not to pay attention. I've also posted a short video of the problem somewhere.
Edit: Found it:

We had a grinding noise on our Kadjar's steering. Dealer diagnosed a faulty strut top mount bearing and replaced it under warranty.

Hi, I have an identical problem as you, regarding the sound of the steering wheel. Can you tell me, did you solve the problem? Thanks.

Yes. The problem is solved with heavy spraying with Silicon spray in the base of the steering column. Probably the bushing between the rod and body is making the sound. Each time works instantly like a charm and only happens in cold winter days (never in other 3 seasons). The fix lasts for a month in my case and than I have to respray it. That's why I always have silicon spray in the trunk - also use it for the mirrors. Had such issues with my last Scenic - folding mirrors and bushings of the stabilizing rod, squeaking over bumps, so nothing new :D :D
