I agree with the dry move, but mine is way faster ;)  Just stretch your arm and push. Besides, using cloth, paper and so on is a potential laugh-bomb from others... 
PS: In my country, loading fuel is not a self service, and the guys working on the station, responsible for loading the tank, often decide to help you and wash your window. Guess what happens when they try to lift the arms of the blades :)

My issue is do the guys down the road in the speed wash know this????????????? Yes it is becoming more common  for wipers not to lift unless under owner control but if you forget,
